What You Can Do
The first thing you can do is sign up! Registration is quick and easy, so you can start checking off activities and earning chances to win amazing prizes almost instantly! Can you believe flying a kite, climbing a tree or playing recreational soccer could help you win a trip to the Grey Cup or even a new car?
The second thing you can do is help spread the word. Tell your friends, classmates, colleagues… Actually, tell everyone! Challenge your family to see who can complete more activities. Share photos of all your adventures on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook with the hashtag #150playlist.
The third way to get involved is through local events. In 2017, there are 100 Play List Tour Stop events planned from coast to coast to coast, making it easy for you to try new activities, get helpful tips, and of course, check a few items off your list all at once. Local schools, clubs, and sports organizations will also be having events or programs throughout the year to give you even more opportunities to have some fun and get active. If you represent an organization, school or workplace and want to get involved, you can register your event and receive a celebration kit, promotional tools and even apply for support with a micro-grant.
How You Can Win
At ParticipACTION, we believe that being active is its own reward, but we thought a few prizes might give you that extra bit of motivation we all sometimes need to get up and get moving. By signing in and checking off all the activities you complete online, you’ll earn entries into our weekly, monthly, and grand prize draws! So stay active and maximize your chance of winning.
Thanks to the generosity of our partners, we will be giving away fun prizes each week like wearable activity trackers, exciting monthly prizes like an all-expenses paid trip to Whistler, B.C., and a trip to the Grey Cup in Ottawa. Our grand prize draw could win you a brand new Chevrolet vehicle of your choice worth up to $40,000!
For complete details on how you can win, please see the Rules & Regulations page.
Why It's Happening
Canada’s 150th birthday is an opportunity to celebrate all that makes us Canadian, and being physically active is an essential part of that collective identity. From tobogganing and snowshoeing to fishing and hiking, movement has always been integral to everyday life in Canada.
The 150 Play List celebrates that history while inspiring Canadians to make it a bigger part of our future. Being active is essential and accessible to all of us, in every part of the country regardless of who we are, or who we identify with. Each activity on the list includes adaptations and variations, ensuring that anyone can participate regardless of age, ability or level of experience. By encouraging Canadians to try as many activities as possible and find the ones they love, ParticipACTION hopes to remind people that activity isn’t just good for our physical and emotional health, it’s a part of who we are as Canadians.
When and Where It’s Happening
Running from January to December 2017, the 150 Play List is a nationwide challenge with events taking place from coast to coast to coast. ParticipACTION is sending a Play List Crew across the country, making 100 stops and over a thousand local organizations will be hosting community events.
But that’s just the formal stuff, really. The 150 Play List happens anywhere and everywhere Canadians are physically active in 2017. On the rivers of B.C. In the forests of Northern Ontario. On sidewalks and soccer fields and baseball diamonds in every province and territory in Canada. The 150 Play List is more than just checking activities off a list – it’s a physical-activity movement, inspiring and motivating Canadians everywhere to move more and sit less.
Who Is Involved?
The ParticipACTION 150 Play List is a collaborative effort supported by the Government of Canada, premier corporate partners Manulife, Chevrolet, and Shaw, the Government of B.C., and national media partner Corus.
Yet, the most important contributor is YOU. The 150 Play List exists because of you and Canadians everywhere like you. Your involvement, your enthusiasm, your passion and interest for physical activity is the reason the 150 Play List was created and the reason we are so excited to be celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday in the best way we know how – with movement!
So, get moving, remember what it means to be Canadian, and keep the celebration going all year long. That’s what the 150 Play List is all about. Still have questions? Check out the 150 Play List FAQ.
